What to Expect from Your First FIller Treatment

What to Expect from Your First FIller Treatment

If you’re tired of the lost volume in your face, neck, and hands, there are solutions available that don’t require you to go under the knife. Though cosmetic surgery can be invasive, minimally invasive procedures have taken the lead as some of the most popular in cosmetics. Though Botoxremains the most popular cosmetic injectable, other options offer different and wonderful results.

Our aesthetic-forward medical staff at Beauty Forever Med Spa in Gilbert, Arizona understands the fine points of placement for cosmetic injectables, and the importance of dosage that yields results. The first time you treat your skin with fillers, you might be surprised, but the surprise is almost always a good one.

What are fillers?

Fillers are gels that are used to treat a lack of volume on your body. Most fillers are designed to be used on your face, but other parts of your body, like your neck and hands, can be treated with fillers. Unlike Botox, fillers don’t prevent wrinkles, but they can treat both wrinkles and a lack of volume.

Common places to use fillers on the face include cheeks, which can look thin and sunken  with age or weight loss; lips, which can be plumped; and hands, which can look more hollow with age. Fillers are dosed according to your body weight, your medical history, and your desired look.

All fillers smooth wrinkles and add volume, but the long-term benefits are part of what differentiate each filler from the others. As a result, we offer a range of fillers, including:

Restylane

The Restylane family of fillers is made primarily of hyaluronic acid, or HA, which helps the plumpness and dewyness of your skin. You may recognize HA as an ingredient in many shelf-stable cosmetic creams and serums. The difference between the topical products and the injectable is the strength — the injectable is much stronger. Restylane lasts up to 1 month, depending where it’s injected.

Juvéderm

Juvéderm is a filler from Allergan, the makers of Botox. Juvéderm is also an HA filler that comes in a variety of strengths, and can be used to contour the face. HA attracts and retains water, helping your skin to stay hydrated.

Radiesse

Radiesse is a signature HA blend that enhances volume and firmness of your hands and mouth area. Radiesse is equipped with a collagen-stimulating compound to help your skin heal itself from fine lines and wrinkles. Radiesse comes in two strengths, and your provider at Beauty Forever Med Spa works with you to choose the appropriate product and dose.

Sculptra

Sculptra is a revolutionary formula that brings HA and a skin-loving acid that both replaces lost collagen, and stimulates collagen production. Sculptra gives a subtle ‘lift’ while filling fine lines and diminishing wrinkles.

What’s it like to get fillers?

Getting your first filler starts with a consultation with your provider at Beauty Forever Med Spa. When you come in, discuss your aesthetic goals with your provider, and let them know of any medications you’re taking, as well as your smoking and drinking habits.

Before you receive your filler or fillers, your provider cleanses your skin, and uses a gentle disinfectant. Your provider uses a small syringe to measure the amount of filler that will most likely yield the results you seek. After applying a topical anesthetic to reduce discomfort, your provider adds your filler just under your skin. It’s possible to inject your filler lower, but your provider will do what is best and safest for you.

After your first treatment with fillers, it’s normal to experience minor discomfort over the next day or so. When you’re using cosmetic injectables, bruising is common, but will also generally clear quickly. Treating your skin with fillers is a quick and easy process, and the results are usually seen on the day of your treatment.

I’m ready to change a few things.

Before we can recommend treatment, your provider has a consultation with you. Fillers do involve some risks, but are generally well-tolerated. To get started with a consultation, call us today at 480-386-0616, or book an appointment with us online.
